If you’re anything like us, you’d agree there is nothing better than taking time out of your everyday routine to appreciate the simple luxuries in life; spending quality time with your loved ones, immersing yourself in different cultures and new exciting experiences, and relaxing amongst some of Mother Nature’s finest handiwork. If this sounds like bliss, it’s time to add La Dolce Vita on the Amalfi Coast into your schedule.

Why the Amalfi Coast is the Ultimate Mediterranean Destination

Running from the southern edge of the Sorrentine Peninsula, stopping just shy of Salerno, to the town of Vietri sul Mare, this 50-km shoreline makes for one of Italy’s most famous destinations. Why? Because it has it all.

With mountainous regions, verdant woodland, and some of the deepest blue seas of the Mediterranean, the Amalfi Coast is a spectacular sight whether you have been before or are taking in the stunning views for the first time.

The beauty doesn’t stop there. Onshore, all along the Amalfi Coast and its narrow, coastal roads, you’ll find terraced towns and villages with a variety of cultural and historical landmarks to enjoy along the way.

And, of course, there are a number of gorgeous Buckingham & Lloyds luxury villas on the Amalfi Coast to accommodate you throughout your stay.

Where to Stay on the Amalfi Coast – Our Favourite Spots

Positano

Positano is one of the most popular regions for tourists, particularly beach lovers.

The most popular and liveliest of Positano’s glorious beaches is the Marina Grande. This 300-meter long beach is the town’s central social spot and a favourite for tourists and celebrities alike.

Suppose you’d prefer something a little more peaceful, head on over to Fornillo Beach, situated at the entrance to the Positano harbour. Many afternoons can be spent people-watching from this idyllic spot.

But, sun, sea, sand are just some of what you’ll find upon visiting the beautiful town of Positano. It’s also decorated with a fantastic array of stunning pink buildings, which line cobbled streets so narrow you can’t even drive down. Here you will find a plethora of boutique hotels and shops along with many fabulous bars and restaurants.

Buckingham & Lloyds have two magnificent private villas in the Positano area, both ideally situated to enjoy the most amazing views.

Villa Diana and Villa Era are stunning villas, Villa Diana has 5 bedrooms accommodating 10 guests, and Villa Era has 6 bedrooms, large enough to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Both villas come equipped with everything you need if you ever require a break from the beach including luxurious private swimming pools. Villa Diana and Villa Era are the perfect places to stay for a family get together, summer reunion with friends, or simply a place to indulge and relax whoever you’re with.

Praiano

If you’re looking to shy away from the more touristy areas of the Amalfi Coast and would prefer something a little more secluded, Praiano is a charming little village to slow down and explore.

Its low-key reputation shouldn’t deter you. There are some fabulous little shops and bars at almost every turn, while the restaurants down on Spiaggia della Gavitella beach are hard to beat. This is where you’ll find some of the freshest, tastiest seafood that money can buy. After all, it is an ancient fishing village.

A few roads from Praiano is one of the Amalfi Coast’s most striking yet tranquil sights – the Fiordo di Furore. Translated into English, the Fjord of Fury is a place of natural beauty and wonder. Because of its bold and distinct appearance, it’s also has been used as a filming location on more than one occasion, making it a fascinating place to visit during your trip to the Amalfi Coast.

When the day is done, and you’re ready to retire, where better place to relax than in the comfort of your private villa. Nestled in the beautiful Praiano itself is our elegant Villa Vesta. Decorated in true Mediterranean style, this 3-bedroom villa is fully furnished and suitable for up to 6 guests. It’s also spacious and air-conditioned with everything you could need to make your trip an enjoyable one, including a fully equipped kitchen, nanny services on request and your own personal concierge.

Sorrento

One of the most talked-about of Amalfi Coast’s hotspots, Sorrento is a charming coastal town most famous for its lemon groves and limoncello.

Overlooking the Bay of Naples in southwestern Italy, it has some of the best views of the Mediterranean.

Situated on the Sorrentine Peninsula, you’ll find our private 4-bedroom Villa Atena. With stretching sea views and the island of Capri in the distance, here you can sit back and gaze upon the crystalline waters from the comfort of your private terrace.

The villa is also equipped with an infinity pool and solarium for you to enjoy while soaking in the warm Italian sunshine.

In addition to its majestic landscapes, Sorrento also has a lot of historical significance, going right back to the Roman Empire. Here you’ll find ancient ruins lying among medieval streets and alleyways, and it is one of the best places to get a good view over Mt Vesuvius, the famous volcano that destroyed nearby Pompeii.

If that isn’t enough, just a short boat ride away is the Isle of Capri. Adorned with clear waters, gorgeous gardens, and some wonderful little boutique shops, Capri is a great place to visit on a day trip from Sorrento.

There’s also a great deal of fun to be had in an evening in Sorrento. While it’s undoubtedly no party town like Ibiza, there are still several clubs where you can dance away until the morning. Or, if you’d prefer something a little quieter, there are some fantastic little restaurants to be found, so why not enjoy some of the finest fish dishes from one of Sorrento’s three Michelin star restaurants.

Amalfi

With its seafront location and various historical attractions, Amalfi is one of the most popular Amalfi Coast towns. And, it’s clear to see why.

The centre of Amalfi can get busy at times as the many shops, restaurants, and hotel villas catering to thousands of visitors each year fill up during the summer months.

On the flip side, when all you want is a little peace and quiet, Amalfi has one of the best-secluded beaches on the whole coast. Of course, you will need to take a walk of around 400 steps down the cliffside to get to Duoglio Beach, but you will not be disappointed when you do. Here you will find some of the most crystal clear water throughout all the Amalfi Coast, perfect for a cool down, and a beautiful backdrop for a signature Instagram shot.

Located less than 20km away, three of our luxury villas – Villa Era, Villa Diana, and Villa Vesta. Each is beautifully decorated and fully equipped to be your home from home while visiting the Amalfi Coast.

Ravello

Just a short drive from Praiano and a great place to tour in the Amalfi Coast if staying at the lovely Villa Vesta. Ravello is an enchanting hilltop village made most famous for its spectacular views and elegant gardens.

While there’s no direct access to the sea from Ravello, and therefore no sandy beach to lounge upon, it still has a lot to offer its guests. Nick-named the City of Music, this charming little village has a vibrant cultural scene that speaks volumes. During the summer months, Ravello holds a summer festival to celebrate music and the arts and features a wide variety of performances, including large orchestras, jazz, art shows, and more.

In addition to that, you’ll find medieval streets lined with ancient stone pathways in the village itself. And, being situated up a mountain offers a view across the Amalfi Coast unlike any other. For miles upon miles, you can gaze out upon the glistening blue crystal clear waters and dramatic coastline.

Final Thoughts

The Amalfi Coast is a spectacular location of natural beauty, offering some of the most breathtaking views you will ever encounter.

Not only is it lined with both public and private beaches galore, but there’s also a plethora of cultural and historical landmarks to enjoy. All-in-all, the Amalfi Coast offers a true mix of simplicity and sophistication that’s impossible not to love.
