As the new year welcomes us and resolutions are made, London couldn’t be a better place to experience the thriving energy that comes with new beginnings. Wandering around, the streets feel lively, new projects and plans are starting, new exhibitions, cafes, restaurants are opening and it really feels like the place to be.

Many say that January is a hard time, especially in London where the weather isn’t great and the underground is packed, but I have to disagree – London in January is choc-a-block full with things to do. No matter what corner of this bustling city you find yourself in, there is always something to tickle your tastebuds.

Take good note of the fact that we are entering into a new decade, and what a place to be in at a time like this! The city is offering food, film, art, music, shopping – to name a few..

Check out the Tate Modern, the wonderful gallery that celebrates its 20th birthday this year, making this year a special one to visit London’s old Bankside Power Station. The Tate holds the likes of Picasso, Matisse, Hepworth, and many more.

Having just spent the afternoon in Soho myself, I am constantly reminded how interesting this funny little neighbourhood is, nestled in the belly of this fascinating city. Head to Café Boheme on a Sunday for a bout of thriving, dancing crowds, jostling along to the latin live band that plays regularly. When the grooving gets too much, take a seat and feast upon their delicious Moules Marinière, sit back and enjoy…

However, if you feel the need to stay west one day, head off on a sweet note, and head into the heart of Notting Hill to ‘Melt Chocolate’ a cute little Chocolaterie, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of bubbling West London. There, you can get all the information on chocolate, and even take classes yourself. You will be greeted with big smiles and wonderful staff who are ready to go with facts and recipes on all things chocolatey. Cuddle up away from the cold with a mug of frothy vegan hot chocolate and enjoy…

Finally, head over to Sketch bar, for an early evening aperitif (and stay as long as you fancy). Known for their lavish interior and egg shaped loos, Sketch has a variety of cocktails, snacks and delicious taste in music. This really is a great place to kick off the year!
